Hey everyone,

I've had chickens for about 6 months now, about time I signed up to this forum. I got my first batch of chickens from a market - they all turned out to be roosters so I gave them away (I suspect the seller was shifty). My current batch are pullets bought from reputable places. I have 12 chickens - ISA Browns, RIR, Australorps and Leghorns (not pure).

Most of the flock:

There's 2 which I suspect might be cockerels - can anyone verify?

The Boss (Australorp, 6 months), it's the largest and most dominant chicken. It is 30% larger than my other Australorp pullet and has needle-like neck feathers. It once mounted a pullet (for dominance?), but has never crowed.

The Houdini (White chicken, 4 months), always flies over the coop and gets out. Has thin needle-like neck feathers, long legs and a rather muscular body. Sort of timid, gets bossed around by a smaller fiercer pullet. Never crowed.

Cheers.

Hi and :welcome

I live in Adelaide, come join the other Aussies in Where am I, where are you.
A dominant hen will sometimes do a lot of guy-like stuff, attack other chickens and try to mount pullets. We had a hen who did that a lot. :lau
I reckon The Boss is a female, at least. But I'm definitely not an expert on chicken genders, so if you were wise you'd be best to not trust my judgement. :p

Enjoy the site.

Thanks, I appreciate the warm welcome. I've posted a query in the gender/breed section. Hope to get better acquainted with the community.
