    Just recently joined after purchasing 5 acres out in Whatcom County. I've never had chickens before, so I used this site quite a bit to learn where to start. After several months of reading books, magazine, this website, etc., I thought it was time to jump in. So, I'm picking up 10 RIR chicks this weekend.

    Luckily, we already had a gigantic "goat pen" and chicken coop on the property. I just needed to make a few modifications to the existing pen and coop to make it more like what I felt it needed to be for chickens. So, my biggest expense was already taken care of.

    I'm looking forward to interacting and learning more from this site. Thanks!

    Hello from another Whatcom County folk. We are in Ferndale, just got 4 chicks, 2 more tomorrow. But keep that on the low down, as were not supposed to have chickens here in the big "city" [IMG];
