So what if I got the guy to put another side of wire...would that still not be enough ventilation? Roost in the back with the solid wall and perches?

It has been known to get in the low 30s too. An open 3sided coop seems a little harsh, I thought
How would one design a poop tray? Don’t think the old man has a clue what I’m talking about
Look, Amazon has this shed you could turn into a coop really easily. It’s only $500 and you would be able to walk into it. You would probably need to spend another one or $200 making it into a coop. You could just cut in more ventilation put in a roost and a poop board, A few nesting boxes a pop out door and maybe attach an automatic chicken coop opener to it and then attach the run.I met with the guy that said he would build it for me. He basically said he would do whatever I wanted. I’m gonna take yalls advice. Not exactly sure how to draw this thing up
And would you pull this out from the outside like most coops from Tractor Supply? It is literally a removable shelf that sits about 6" below the roost and is deep(front to back) enough to catch most of their nighttime poops. It keeps the shavings or whatever you are using in the coop much cleaner.
That means they aren't walking in poo just before stepping in the nest boxes.
Many people use them and do a quick clean in the mornings so they are ready for another night.
You will want a lip all the way around to keep sand or sweet pdz on it. A 1x2 is sufficient. I read someones post and they are using an empty feed bag to line it. They said the poo is still easy to remove.
They are also a good way to keep track of poo quality.Yes poo has quality. If you see unusual droppings under a specific birds roosting spot it will be easier to figure out which one may be ill.
Here is the photo of my poop board. My set up is super simple and I just built it out of plywood and it is the first thing I have ever built, so I’m sure you could do something similar. Mine is 4x8 feet and I put the nesting boxes underneath the poop board. I just don’t like any kind of mess or poop smells, I don’t like my chickens to have poop on her feet if possible, so I just wrap up the newspaper and put in a new one every morning. You can also put a little rim on the nesting board and just put sand in there and scoop it out. I have eight hens at the moment, but I do have six nesting areas because I don’t want them to fight over the boxes because they make noise when they do that. I have two more nesting boxes on the other side of the coop. And would you pull this out from the outside like most coops from Tractor Supply?
