It has been over ten years since I raised chickens and was a member here. Just as it seems many people are, we are getting back to producing a lot of our own food.

Right now I have to build a new coop and, to be honest, the current lumber prices scare me to death.

You're right about the cost of lumber right now, it's crazy! If you check out the coop builds other members have made using recycled materials or other non-wood type materials, maybe you can come up with a plan for something different. chicken-coops.12

Welcome back. Have you considered a hoop coop? It would require some lumber but not as much as a traditional wood coop. I'm not sure of your location but dog kennel conversions can be pretty nice too. Good luck!
