Hey everyone! Dropping in to say howdy!

I've been a chicken owner for about 2 years now after I moved out to the North Carolina Mountains.

I have a trio of Millie Fluer, A Black Cochin, A Silver Laced Cochin pair, Two White Leghorn Hens, A Blue Splash Polish Rooster and two barnyard mixes.
In the following weeks I'll be acquiring wood to build onto my shed which will become my new coop and then I'll be getting some Mottled, Porcelain and Self Blue D'uccles.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Wow, sounds like you have a colorful flock already! The additions of the new birds will make it even brighter!!

Good luck with all your poultry projects and welcome to our flock!

Thank you so much guys! You're awesome and I've been reading BYC ever since I started my flock but it never occurred to me to ACTUALLY join, haha.

But once I get my D'uccles hopefully, one day I'll be able to breed them and spread that breed around!

He's a cutie! I can't wait to get mine!

The coop should be to difficult. I'm rebuilding an already existing shed so most of it's already there, I just have to repair the floor and make it predator proof and add some roosting beams for them!

I love D'Uccles! I have had the milys. They have really neat personalities. I had a rooster that would snuggle with his hens under his wings while they roost. My Milly rooster last year was not fertile so I had no babies last year. Sadly we lost the roo and some hens to a coon. We just have Cochin and other egg layers, but I plan on getting more D'Uccles this spring. Good luck with your flock they are so fun to have!

I'm sorry to hear that your Mille's got taken by a predator, maybe one day I can ship you some!

D'uccles are very sweet birds. My Mille roo is top of the flock and he's the best rooster ever. He digs up stuff for his flock and makes sure they get first grabs on everything, he puts his wings over his girls at night. They really are an awesome breed.
