(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Just got our first batch from a neighbor, who happens to be an elementary school teacher. Mixed batch, that started life as a biology project.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Currently have 5 hens. Started with 6, but learned the hard way, that pet dogs that don't have issues with other inside animals, aren't necessarily friendly outside the house.

(3) What breeds do you have?
mixed. Not sure of specific breeds, but get a fair amount of blue eggs, and the occasional brown one.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Google, how else does one find out about sites?

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Kids sports, off roading, and general learning about self sustainability

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'll reserve this for future use.

Hi and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us.

Here’s a link to the Articles section - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/ There you’ll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping chickens - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs.

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

Good to have another member!

Sorry about the dog whoops.

I know mine would do the same if given half a chance.

So your birds are old enough to be laying? Cool about the blue egg!

I am certain that by now you have found the chickens to be very entertaining.

:pop I will hang in there for pictures of your ladies when you are ready to share them.
