my favorite, friendly roo is a bantam fav too. he is beautiful, i dont have any blues. i did for a short time, was a very sweet bird but she passed.

What he lacks in size, he tries to make up for in ego!

It's really hilarious! But even though he tries to act "big", he's really just a peach.

I just went out to let the birds out of the barn and guess what? I have more chicks hatching.

I had to move the nest down again. Theirs 4 chicks so far. Two were still wet just coming out of the egg and about 10 more eggs left to hatch.

The hen went right back on the nest. It seems so crowded with all those eggs. Shannon it's the Barred cochin Bantam. The hen I gave you some of the eggs from and she also has some of the eggs from the Mille Fleur under her. So far the chicks that htched looks like hers. How many of your eggs hatched? at last count you said nine. The only problem with new chicks is I spend to much time following the hen and the chicks around watching them

So, do your chickens actually operate the front end loader in the pics??

Hmmm. Now that you mention it I did hear some strange noises coming from the shed. Probably the little stinker Brabanter girl trying to break down the door.

Bugger attempts to escape at every opportunity. The boys just want to stay with the food, she wants outside. I have to make sure the door stays shut otherwise she's through the fence and out and away.

Not to change the thread, but i'm posting this for a fellow 4-Her.

By the way, I have a friend sick with cancer who needs a home for a young Rhode Island Red rooster..any way to post it on a 4H email alert? Kind of a poultry 911...ideally, a pet/breeder, versus fried home..

If anyone knows of anyone looking for a RIR roo, let me know

The dad is a gold sebrite.

Animal planet had a clip of a too-tall person riding a Falabella mini and wanted someone who knew about them

I'll have to watch hgTV for your "moment in the spotlight!"
I've only hatched one batch of seramas so far- 2 out of 12 hatched but they had no problem- I arrived after they were hatched and dried off

My OEGB that I hatched last batch did so well. I kept one and the others sold well. I like the real small banties

just so happens that we came home to this

we have had it work, and we have had it be a total disaster, where they sit together and eggs get cold around , between them and they move eggs here and there in the nest and end up hatching nothing or a few. or a total mess is when a hen is setting, and another hen goes in daily and lays an egg and then the setting hen takes that egg so hatching time comes and hen stays put and babies die because hen is waiting on other eggs that were layed weeks later, its a pain, but sometime, like this, it works. so far so good

LOL- too cute! My button quail all lay in the same area. I have a colony setting so the 5-6 laying hens all have a big pile going. I've had as many as four trying to cover all the eggs all side by side

I cant wait to see the show! I have 6 seramas in the bator now and 2 have pipped as of this afternoon. I have 6 others that are 4 weeks old to 4 monthas old. I love them. I also have 5 OEGB's hatched the last 3 days and more pipping over the next few days too! I bought some dutch (blues) but I dont think they developerd. i also have my mixed mut chickens that will be due on the 6th if the humidity in the batoer did not kill them yet!

OK, question, how come my chicks will seem to hatch almost out of the egg, get all dried up and hard, and then still be attached at their butts to the egg shell by a "umbilical" stringy thing??? The humidity is ranging from 60-64 degrees and the bator temp is fluxing between 102.2-102.8
Yesterday one was stuck on his back to the metal grate flooring of the bator and I had to use a small paintbruch in water to melt the sticky stuff, then his wings were as hard as a rock and stiff. When I put him in the brooder the other day olds each grabbed a wing and tried to play tug o war with him...This hatching buisness is very stressfull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
