those were a GREAT price!!!

I am kicking my butt I did not get the diamond doves I saw, but i got the button quail then cant kame up my mind if I want them. I am determined to train them and at least had them eating some food from my hand!

Hope you're feeling better, man that didn't sound fun at all. Regarding diamond doves, NH bird supply in Nasua is now breeding them. Though i cannot garuntee their tameness etc. Also in december the american dova association is holding a show/sale in sturbridge mass. You may be able tto find the doves you're looking for.

Thanx for that info..the lady on Sunday had a trio just under a year for 30 bucks with cage and a preeding pair for 40 with cage! I am so mad I had just bought the button quail, if I had waited, I would have gotten the doves insted!!

at 7 weeks old, he's already annoying his mother, and is 100% finger tame, he falls asleep in your hands.

Is it possible to tame the diamond doves??? I would love a tame pair of them just so they are not so pannicked when the cage gets approached?

A simple trick is to clip their wings if they are older, and then they can't fly away. Handle them daily as their feathers grow back, and by the time their "flights" are in they should be used to you handling them. We have a pair of doves we clipped, because their were "extremely panic acting" beforehand. So we clipped them, and handled them, showing them we can be trusted. I should note, to do this in a room with no dogs, or distractions. Also it depends on the individual bird, we have some birds who are not clipped, orhand tame, but are coming around to being hand tame. My favorite is my white dove spike, who responds to "step-up" and will hop off the perch to your finger.

I did see that, thank you. My MIL took the kids last night, so Jen and I had an evening to ourselves, needless to say I was off line.

Thanx Wendy, I feel like my butt is draggin today, like a lead weight, but Iat least I am still existing here in this crazy world as opposed to the other way things could have turned out to be!!! I am more upset that the birds got harmed. It was the pair I got from you. Any chance you might have another pair to go into the indestructable pen being made this weekend????
