New Hampshire!!

Does anyone in SNH have fertile hatching eggs? If so what kind and how much? I would go into the buy sell trade forum but Im tryin to avoid shipping cost. This will be my first attempt at incubating.
Thank you to all who offered me eggs and also to those who PMd me. I found my eggs and will be setting them on the 3rd

Thank you all for the advice about integrating silkies. We'd like to get three silkie pullets so they can be their own little flock. I do have room in the main coop to make a silkie safe zone but I'm thinking a separate coop/run set up would keep the silkies safer and completely away from the attention of our roos (they are both big boys). If we ever decide to rehome the roos, then we could introduce the two flocks and see how it goes. We had another egg in the nest box last night, smaller than the first one but perfect. Will have to figure out who laid it this weekend.

I am a silkie breeder, silkies are extremely docile and often do not fight with other breeds so end up on the bottom of the pecking order. it is difficult to mix pullet silkies with adult large fowl hens. I vote for the seperate coop. your 2 full size roosters would breed the silkies. if the little girls try to get away and the boys have a firm hold a neck could get snapped,
lots of people have silkies live in with large fowl, it is easier if they all grow up together or if the banties are hatched under a large fowl hen so mom will protect the kids, if you have a hen go broody you could always buy silkie hatching eggs.
ohh good point. I dont have roosters so i didnt think of that aspect...

thanks.. i guess i should try to find out how to do it - I am sure it wont be the last time... I cant say butchering chickens has ever been on my bucket list, but I know people do it all the time.... . Let me know if you come up with anyone - Thank you!
its not that bad, the wife and i did 35 meat chickens in 8 hours (we were not pro's) , we rented the scalder, cones, and featherman from grove rental in bedford for $60, when i do just a couple birds i just skin them, watch some videos on youtube, but beware there is alot of..... uneducated people on there that aren't necessarily as humane as i would like. but its not bad at all. good luck

I will not be posting on BYC anymore. Today i got home and Macbeth, my legbar rooster is missing. This was a two legged predator as he is the only bird missing and there is no way out of the pen. It is someone local and who knows me from BYC because they knew to look for a crocked toe rooster. It has been fun but this makes me very uncomfortable. I posted those pictures 2 days ago and it worries me that someone would do such a thing and violate my personal life and space in this way. Good luck to all with their chicken endeavors but this really disgusts me and worries me that I have left myself open to such a thing and invited someone into my life with smiles that was a thief. Hopefully Karma bites them on the behind. I will definitely be changing how I operate from here on in.
