New Hatcher. Need help

[White leghorn farmer]

I have a blue Indonesian rooster and a black australorp hen. I have made a hatching pen for the two chickens. When the two breed I was gonna let the black australorp sit and hatch out the eggs. I bought an brooder to welcome the new arrivals. I've never done this before so I would appreciate some advice. Thanks!

Just because she lays fertile eggs doesn’t mean she’s gonna go broody and sit on them. And if she does go broody and happens to stay broody, you’ll have no idea when it’s gonna happen until she does it. This will be you’re biggest hurdle to your plan.
