Ok, I am setting this evening. Still struggling to get my humidity above 25%! I am confident that I will have it worked out by this evening. I am setting 25 black and blue Mottled Cochins and 12 Frizzles.

I am trying not to be nervous. I have done this before but, it's been a some years. I've had four cups of tea and can't sit still though! I was curious if anyone else is setting today?

I will be setting eggs tomorrow with my 2nd grade class..... wish me luck. 20 heavy breeder eggs arriving from McMurray Hatchery tomorrow morning.
Incubator all set at 99.6 degrees with 43% humidity
Do I need to to anything to the eggs when they arrive before I put them in??

I'm setting a Buff Orpington broody hen tonight. Her hatch date will be April 22nd.
I'm setting her with 1 doz buff orpington eggs. I also have a broody due 4 -18 and eggs in the incubator due 4-19.
2 more broody hens to set this weekend and next week.

I will hatch with you if you like. Set egg yesterday at 3:55 pm. This is my second hatch and I have 30 eggs EE and silkie. Most all of these are my own eggs. Using my new Spot Check this time around, feel a little safer then I did with the Acu Rite I got from Wal-Mart last time. I am doing a dry hatch so no misting here. I have two broody hens each sitting on 8 eggs each that I put Friday afternoon. Good luck
For shipped eggs I would let them set for 8 hours or more.

I did manage to get my humidity to 37%. I bought some sponges. I bet I get it just right now.

I believe that most people do let their shipped eggs settle for 24-48 hours before hatching. Some people let them sit only for a few hours. I do remember that there were times that I set eggs in the incubator the same day they arrived. I know I always had pretty decent hatch rates. My problem is that I had eggs coming from two different places arriving four days apart. They were all supposed to arrive the same day but things happen. I am going to set them all this evening anyway!

I do remember back in the day, that the more that I did not worry about the eggs in the incubator and the less I messed with them, the better the hatches. Which really I had so many chickens, I didn't have time to worry or constantly hover over the incubator checking temps and humidity.

Good luck to everyone!!!!!

I got eggs delivered today, but I want to work on stabilizing the humidity better before I set them. I'll probably do that tomorrow afternoon.

I was going to set a few. I couldn't quit choosing. I think there must be seventy "special" eggs in my hovabator right now, marked 31 and 1.
