Even though I set 95 eggs today, I'm over on the Good Friday Hatch as well as my Blue Wheaten Ameraucana hatch.

You all could join in either one of those.

I've never seen so much incubating going on!

Well, I shoved some more in myself. My hen that hatched out an egg a few weeks ago started a new lil stockpile. I found five eggs and I added them too! I didn't know she had started laying again! I guess one wasn't enough for her either! I have 43 in!

HI Everyone
I will be a few days behind. I ordered the eggs from McMurray Hatchery. They arrived today- 3 cracked and 1 broken.. :(Oh well. (actually can only fit 20 eggs in the bator so it worked out)
Since I am doing this with my second graders, I figured it would be better to wait until Monday.. that way we will have eggs hatching when we are in school and not on the weekend.
Is there anything special I need to do with these eggs while we wait until Monday?? I am a but new at this?
They are sitting on my counter at room temp...
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks
Happy Incubating!

Some info I found at this link might help you : http://backyardchickens.yuku.com/topic/1604/t/hatching-egg-care-guide.html

"I
store my eggs in an egg flat with the small end of the egg facing down. You always want the
large end up because this is where your air cell is at. Keep the eggs in a room that stays cool,
preferably around 60 degrees, and you need to rotate the flat of eggs back and forth at least once
a day. I put a block board under one side of the flat, and then every morning I rotate to the other
end. Its kind of like a rocking back and forth motion so that you keep the embryo moving until
incubation. Eggs are beginning to form an embryo even before you put them in the incubator
and this rotation will prevent the egg from settling to one side of the shell thus causing suffocation."

Glad to have you and good luck!!!

I set mine also on 4-1 in the evening around 5pm so I count the 2nd as day 1. I have 3 RIR mix and two double yolkers that belong to my white asiatic braham in my avatar and a mix white roo. I know I'm taking a chance but I hope it works out. I'm am using suro 20 with 45% humidity and 99.8 on the temp. Good luck everyone!

Hello Everyone.

If you don't mind I will join you all as well. I set mine in the new IncuCube small incubator late 3/31, I have 13 bantam RIR eggs. I didnt count the 31st as day one, maybe I should have. I have mine set up to hatch on the 21st. They will probably come a little early. I will try to post pictures as soon as I can. This is my first time at this so everyone please bear with me.

I'll join in, I set 40 eggs in a new hova bator 1588 late on 3/3l so 4/1 will be day one for me. So I will have a hatch date of 4/21 also. I set my own eggs from RIR,BA,BO, and a speckled sussex mix. This is my first time to incubate eggs too so wish me luck. So far the temps and humidity are holding steady. Can't wait to see how it all turns out.

I ended up setting late last night, on 4/2. I have a dozen Ameraucana eggs in a still-air LG. The hygrometer didn't beat the eggs here, but I expect it Monday. This is take 3 for me with this incubator; the first time I was trying to hatch some wild mallards whose mother had been killed, and got one out of it, although he died a few days later.

The second time was 16 Silkie and Golden Laced Wyandottes, and they had all quit by the second week.

Third time's a charm, right?
