this new OEGB hen I bought has deformed feet? Like her nails are so long they are growing curly and going back into her? Her feed also just look deformed like a crocs foot or something?? Just really strange looking! Anyone know what i can do?

I was thinking...maybe you could clip them with dog clippers, like for poodles. They are small enough. You need to get the nail out of her. That could cause infection to set in. What was this hens living condition before you purchased her? Was she able to scratch? I really don't know what the answer is, but I would suggest that you clip her nails. Carefully! And keep them clipped if they continue to grow. Good Luck:)

so i should go out and buy some dog clippers? i will if i have to?!??!?

Living conditions were nice i dont know why this hen has such ugly looking feet?

If you are saying that her feet look scaly, it could be scaly mites. Slather vasiline on her legs and give her a dose of Ivomec. Def. cut her nails too.

Where did you get her? Do you think she's sick? Did you put her with other hens? Please be careful. I bought 9 hens from a farmer and wouldn't do it again. They were scrappy looking and much smaller than my own, but they were not sick. I was just starting tho and wouldn't do it again.

I would use human clippers and wash with alcohol before and after.

Sometimes, it just gets too expensive.

Good Luck

i got her from a show breeder he has really good birds it was dark the only bird i had picked out was a rooster that was almost perfect looking so i just told him to grab me some hens to go with him well some of their feet just look so dry and scaley like they are falling apart or something? its so disgusting!

I did what you said i clipped their nails and i put vasaline on their legs along with spraying them with zodiak

anything else i should do? ITs like their leg scales have been opened up! ITs so gross
