First coop build..

Due to recent inclement weather here in NJ..(sooo much f***ing rain every almost every other day for months now!!) I prefabbed the first wall & nesting boxes indoors ...

Might have gone a little overboard but wanted to be dry inside the boxes

I made a base (doubled up plywood with an exterior oil base coat) sitting on (5) 4x4s about 18” off the ground..and constructed the rest..

Then went to work on the interior..
Flooring, feed/water supply, & the poop deck..

Enlisted my dad to mcguyver up my “Door in a door” vision using an old washboard, metal roofing and some pvc composite

Pretty much the final product...I’m no finish carpenter or pro builder but we are pretty happy with the outcome..
just need to add latches to nest box and poop deck door and do the siding..all the white is pvc composite so won’t rot..
Have another 5 nipple 3 gallon bucket hanging in the run and some roosts and a swing..no food outside as we don’t want to extra attract any unnecessary critters
Coop is 5ftx4ft and 4ft tall..
Run is fully enclosed 12x12 and 8ft tall at peak..and when of proper age girls will be able to free range the backyard..
Also have metal roofing to put on top of the run roof..

I was thinking about you today. The sun is finally out in NJ! Your coop came out awesome! Lots of great details (and chicken love) built in there! I've got my DIY projects to customize our coop lined up for this weekend. Feeder, waterer, blocking off the nesting boxes for now and the battery area from our feathered friends. And adding some entertainment for the girls in the run too. Nice job!!
