I have been meaning to expand my henhouse. And by “expand” I mean build a totally new one. The current henhouse was meant to be 4’x4’, but turned out to be 3.5’x3’ give or take a little. And considering that my flock has grown, the henhouse size needs to be adjusted as well. The new henhouse will be 5’x4’ and 4’ tall at the peak, it will have 4 nest boxes instead of 3, 3 roosting bars that will be 4 feet long, easy to use vent covers on all but 2 vents, and I will use a real exterior paint on it. The current henhouse:

I squared off the vent holes for a cleaner look, I’ll also be using 1 large piece of linoleum instead of linoleum tiles, & I’ll be putting a coat of Thompson water sealer on the interior of the henhouse if I don’t get over zealous about having the henhouse installed immediately upon the paint drying.

I’ll be working on the henhouse today with my dad. So God willing by the end of the day I’ll have all 4 walls assembled, the floor finished, the roof finished, all vent covers made, and the interior of the henhouse coated with Thompson’s water sealer.
