Black will help heat the coop in the winter days if that piece is facing south when the sun is at a lower elevation in the southern sky. And it won't hurt anything in the summer because it won't get much sun since the sun is overhead then.

Got the clean out doors attached this past Sunday. God willing this Sunday I can get the nest boxes built and painted as well as the roof shingled and then it should be good to go.

I was supposed to have the henhouse finished today, but it’s almost there. I need to shingle the roof, finish the nest boxes, and put up one more roost in the henhouse and then I’ll be done.

It’s so nice and large in the new henhouse. I have 2 higher perches that the chickens took to right away.
