New hens and my chicks.

I am worried about rescuing hens and them fighting my chicks or bringing illness to the coop.

I think that they will be in very bad condition as they've been caged hens.

Any new chickens from an outside source should be quarantined. How long is a matter of opinion: at least three weeks. Introducing new birds is always a bit of a problem, but it usually works out.

Yes that's the plan. We hope to have the new girls outside for a few weeks in the coop and at the moment our chicks are 10 weeks old, one is pretty big so ready to go out full time but the other is still on the small side so we may wait anyway for a couple of weeks and by that point the new girls will have settled in and we will have watched for any signs of ill health.
