Im sorry I am so new to injuries....

I have had the worst week with adding 2 new girls. I just found blood in the coop and my silkies nail broke, most of it broke off and it is still bleeding a bit. What should I put on it? I dont have any blood stopping agents ... and how should I clean it? Should she be ok in the morning with those hens? I have to work and wont be able to check on them until noon after I put her to bed.

I hope you hear from someone experienced. If you don't and would like to try what I read...flour. Add a bit of water make it sticky. I hope someone answers you. Good luck.

Thanks for the concern :)

I guess I got impatient and before I even read your reply I just soaked it for a minute in soapy water and then dabbed it in flour/put pressure on. Glad I wasnt too off on what to do if that was your suggestion. I just set her on the roost since its dark and hopefully it's ok in the morning.

I just dont want to come home at lunch to a bloody mess and a chicken who discovered blood but that is probably 1/10000 so she should be fine

Watch very carefully for infection. She will be more prone to things like bumblefoot now for a while. The very first sign of anything abnormal needs to be treated. Bumblefoot and other infections need to be caught ASAP so they don't become systemic and kill the bird. Check her every day, maybe even twice a day until she's totally healed.
