So i am getting the feeling after reading some of the recent posts about adding new members to the flock that it is best to wait to have the broodies raise them? I prefer that due to my busy schedule.
If that is true how many chicks can a bantam hen handle. They would be of the larger varieties, BO, EEs?

Aloha,

My Miniature broody fostered in 6 EE chicks I bought from the feed store. She was able to cover them quite well. But then they feathered out and it looked funny when they slept cause they tried their best to get under her that it looked like a multi-head chicken.

But she managed well. But a heat lamp would be advisable if you have more babies for a banty. But if you decide to hatch eggs 4-6 depending on the size of the broody. That is the max i placed under my Miniature hens. But they are mostly crosses now.
