New here and new to chickens

Fould one egg this morning and we are soo happy my girls love it at their new home im going to get more hens enough to feed my flock and maby a little bit more what is a good number of hens to reach my goal

Okay once the hens start laying you will get probably 2 to 3 eggs a day out of the three hens... the egg takes a bit over 24 hours to get finished and laid so sometimes there will be an off day. Also you can keep them laying longer by extending the day with lamps (I don't do thus but there are how to threads on BYC) during molt and sometimes certain seasons birds lay less or stop laying. Some breeds have a limited more wild type laying cycle too. So it depends on how many eggs do you want per day? Which breeds you want and do on. Also consider space, the bigger your flock the more space they should have in the coop so they don't get on each other's nerves too bad, also consider your yard space when you let them out of the coop.

I should warn you about chickens... chicken math is a real thing, and chickens are a gateway animal for other farm animals... :p

You have a rooster which means you can start breeding your next generation but figure a bunch of chicks might be boys if you do.
