Ok, today i managed to get a few more pics of both the chicks, Tonight i have been told by a friend who is a Gamekeeper that he is pretty sure the little white and black is a girl and the the 'cuckoo maran?' is probably a male.

I'm sorry, but with a pea comb that size, you should be finding eggs if it was a girl. 9-10 weeks is WAY too young to be laying, so I will still say male.

The other one is male as well, and it looks like he has a rose comb. I believe all Marans should have single combs, so that wouldn't be what he is unless he's a mix. He looks almost like some sort of feather-legged Wyandotte mix to me? Not sure on breed there.

I think they are both mixed breeds. The first a light brahmaXBarred Rock and the second maybe a wyandotteXMarans?I'm not completley sure on the second, but I agree with pipd it does look like it has wyandotte.

I agree with both of you

Thanks again, Yes, definitely a mixed bag with the breeds i think. I guess i will just have to wait to see how much noise they produce once the cheep cheeping stops and the crowing begins. Have already got new homes for them if they are to noisy and have to go, with the possibility of swapping them for girls
