Hi! My name is Summer, I am new to chickens, and to this site.
We brought home our first two Buff Orpington pullet chicks today. By the weeks end, I will also be adding 2 Rhode Island Red Pullets and 2 Barred Rock Pullets. We hope to have a nice small flock, not only for egg production but for my daughters to show in 4H. We are currently in the learn all we can phase of things, so I will be browsing the forums and I am sure asking tons of questions!
We are currently building our coop ~We have opted to use reclaimed wood from pallets, to build our hen house. We spent the majority of today building the base, and breaking down pallets. LOTS of work, especially when you have so many "'helpers". (Our flock will be adding to an already busy home of 5 children and many other pets.
)
So again, Hello and please ignore the silly questions! I have never before owned chickens. The closest I have ever been to even being around them has been a friends house for three days when I came to visit. So I am sure I will have TONS of questions!
