Hello! I am currently awaiting word on the hatching of my little goslings, they are pipping as I type and I'll get the call to pick them up in a day or so. I've always wanted geese and I'm very excited!

I've been busy, nesting, for lack of a better word lol. Went to the feed store earlier and picked up what was supposed to be waterfowl starter but it is game food starter. 30% protein. I know that is too much for my babies and I won't even try it.

My question is, what should I feed them in case i cannot find waterfowl starter? If I were to get unmedicated chick starter, what would be the correct mixture of Brewers yeast to chick starter for 8 African goslings?

I've waited a very long time to have these little ones, and I'm terrified of hurting them. I raised a mallard duck just fine as a kid, but for some reason this scares me.

Mazuri waterfowl starter is 20% protein. It sounds high based on everything you read about angel wing but I trust their research behind the product. Most people just go with a non medicated chick starter. I have found mine like crumbles over mash. The mash just ends up on the ground.
They need around 10 mg of niacin daily. Best to wet the feed on add it to the water as it will settle to the bottom of the feeder when sprinkled on top. Don't obsess about over dosing. It's a water soluble vitamin and any excess will just be excreted.
