Here to share stories, ideas and learn from posts. The price of eggs/bird flue seems to be a driving factor for many to start raising a flock.
To anyone new to chickens, please take time to learn about what you’re getting into, find out about local ordinances, have supplies and proper shelter before you start. It’s so sad when people get their flock only to find out raising chickens is not for them. I’m new to this forum but not new to chickens. parents had chickens when I was a kid. I didn’t like it much then because I had to feed water and clean out the smelly coop. Years later (2015) I started a small flock of 4 and now have 20. I absolutely love it to this day. I even appreciate the manure produced for my lawn and garden 😄 Here are some photos of my mystic onyx hen, unknown breed of rooster and 2 of their babies.
