I am new here and have 10 laying hens total. About 4 layers now and some younger to soon start. My hand raised favorites (since the flock would not take these new comers after months of just being 8 in one pen) Americauna's. Have 2 and they are not aggresive at all and love for me to hold them and pet them till they go to sleep in my arms. lol Very curious bird though. Any help on rebuilding since they all have grown up and winterizing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

! Happy you joined our community. Not sure what you are asking when you saying rebuilding? Winterizing I might be able to help with. Just make sure they are secure from big drafts in their coop but some ventilation is necessary. They will huddle together for warmth. I put down extra layers of straw for bedding in the nest boxes and on the coop floor. I also insulate the outside of the coop from the harsh north wind. You may have to invest in a system to keep water from freezing as well. Chickens that have additional (artificial) light in the winter will keep up with their laying. Those without it may taper off some. I wish you the best!
