I know Tractor Supply, and maybe other of the same type farm stores sometimes have hatchery quality silkies during their chick days sales. There's nothing wrong with these, just they are far from SOP (standard of perfection) needed for showing them. Many call them "pet quality" as they are still very beautiful and just as friendly and fluffy as the more expensive ones.
If she wants to show them in 4H or beyond, you should look for show-quality ones. Those are much pricier and at private breeders.
I could recommend a few to you, but you'd be paying 10X the cost. I would get on Facebook and find poultry groups for your state and area. Someone there has to be selling silkies.
