(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We got our first chickens a little over year ago. I have always wanted them, and my daughter said her class was hatching some as a science assignment and she got to take them home.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

7 with 4 on the way this weekend that we are hoping our broody will adopt 🙏

(3) What breeds do you have?

  • Piper and Starr, buff orpingtons
  • Tru, barred rock
  • Sybil, silver laced Wyandotte
  • Wanda, speckled Sussex
  • Butter, red sex link.
  • Encarnacíon, ameracauna.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

My husband calls them my emotional support hens because they just calm me down and ease anxiety. I love seeing my daughters loving on the chickens, especially when one of my kids has a grumpuer temperament and is just so tender hearted with her chickies.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

I work a lot and have adventures with my family, and I don't have a lot of hobbies outside my chicken watching. 😄

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I have a great job as a medical scribe at a gastroenterology clinic. I'm married, and we have 2 daughters, a newfoundland (dog), and a jackass cat.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community

I have been reading for a long time and decided I wanted to contribute too :)
