New here lookin forward to learning more about my hens and rooster

Welcome to BYC
I have a bantam cochin rooster that dances in the feed & calls the hens. He is very good natured to me, and to his ladies.
It's normal for the rooster to call the hens for food. He is their flock leader. Many hens will hang back until the rooster calls them over. I usually call my roosters to the food, give it to them, and then let them feed their hens.
Thank you for all the helpful info. I feel so much better about my rooster now.

Welcome. Thank you @janiedoe for explaining how you give the food to your rooster to give to the hens. @lilme73, @janiedoe is respecting the roosters innate responsibilities. A rooster's God given responsibilities include; protecting the flock, even if it means giving his own life, finding food (but not eating first), and mating. Flocks are very hierarchal as you know. A rooster is not exclusive of this fact. If you respect his role, you will have rooster that is happy and holds his head high while taking care of your girls, and you will have a friend for life.
