Hi everyone! I was searching for info on broody hens and found this forum! I thought it looked so fun I decided to join! I am on several toy collector forums, so I am familiar with the forum deal, and since I am fairly new to chickens as well I was excited about the prospect of chatting with a whole bunch of chicken lovers!
I have four kids, my youngest being seven weeks and my oldest is seven years, so I may not be the most active person on the forum but I look forward to participating and learning some things about chickens!
Right now I have a small flock of seven chickens, six of which I got last summer and one newbie (I had two newbies but one got her head chewed off through the bars of the kennel they were roosting in :O ). Two of my flock are older girls from my mom's flock, a speckled Sussex named Speckles and a buff orpington named Big Mama, two are about a year and a half also from my mom, a French copper maran named Bossy Bertha and a barred maran (I think) named Blackie, and then two came from a Craigslist ad, an americauna named Easter (I have such original names don't I?) a barred rock (who was a freebie because she was injured at the time but that's a story for another thread) named Chicken Julia, then my newbie is another americauna who is a pretty silver color and does not have a name yet.
I also love gardening and sewing and lots of kinds of crafting. Along with the chickens we have a sheltie, two cats, and three gerbils. My hubby grew up a city boy with no pets but he does a good job putting up with our menagerie (I think he may even be starting to enjoy them
).
That's me in a nutshell! I'm excited to be on this forum!
