New here with a sick hen.

Update: We gave her another bath and cleaned her bum. This time there was matted white poo with some black in it. It didn't smell as bad as last time. Her abdomen feels kind of mushy. That's the best way I can describe it. I cannot feel an egg. She drank a little more water today and ate some more yogurt, but I kind of had to make her though. She seemed a little more alert today, but her bath seemed to have worn her out. Thank you for all the advice. I'm hoping she'll pull through, but I really don't want her to suffer. :(

It's difficult to see them suffer. Get the Epsom salts and the acv through her. There's still hope for her.

Fancychooklady-
I followed the advice in the link and my poor hen is shooting out runny black poo every time I get her to drink. Does this sound right? We are thinking we'll start her on antibiotics tonight. I just feel like I'm torturing her. :(

She could also have cocci. This can cause them to fluff up, lethargy and go off their feed and water. Corid for 5 days would help with this.

But it could also be bacterial. If the antibiotics don't help her, you might try the corid. I am so sorry about your baby.

This is what Epsom salts does, cleans her out. Start her on the plain Greek yoghurt and mash, make sure she has lots of water. Could be 2-3 days before you see improvement.
