Hello Everyone, I am Daisy Lee and am looking forward to hearing about your chickens. My best friends were chickens when I was small. When my children were young, they had one each. A Rhode Island Red for my daughter and a Blue Andalusian for my son. We hand raised them as pets. I learned a lot about how really intelligent chickens are. Now I'm older I really miss my chickens.

Welcome, glad you have joined us.

Unless I am misunderstanding, you aren't able to start a new flock of your own? And may be interested in the "family life, stories and pictures" forum. Folks here also share their experiences across all of the forums.

Personally, my current flock is my only up close experience with chickens. When I decided to make the plunge, knew it would be an interesting adventure, but never would have imagined how they capture your heart. They are fascinating, intelligent and fun. Wish I had known the joys of raising chickens when I was young.

Enjoy the forums, feel free to ask questions.

Thanks for the welcome. No I can't start a flock right now. Yes I love reading about your chicken experiences. Thank you all for sharing.

Hi Daisy Lee, welcome to BYC!

After having a couple bad experiences with chickens at relatives homes, I grew up thinking I was afraid of chickens. Then about 5 years ago I moved to a small town where chickens roamed freely and I got used to them and really enjoyed watching them. When my husband and I moved to north FL, I got some of my own and haven't regretted it since. Love those wacky birds, they are so much fun. They make great pets and like the BYC motto says, "My pet makes me breakfast". Now who can have a problem with that, lol.

Make yourself at home here and feel free to jump in on threads that interest you. Nice to have you here!
