Hi there! I’m Denise...you’ll get lots of gtreat info here...if you upload a picture of your chickens..maybe someone will know what they are..there’s a thread for reed type..the eggs are great..it’s great fun..your daughter will love it..and if you introduce your dog right away..we said..be nice..with all of our animals..it tends to make the dogs ok with the new guys..at least here..I would show the dog the chickens a lot...let her get used to the smell...see you around here(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I had chickens growing up but that was over 20 years ago. I just got 2 chicks from a friend of mine because my daughter has been wanting some.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We only have two chickens right now.
(3) What breeds do you have?
We aren't exactly sure what breeds they are.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I can't wait to get eggs and just have pets for my daughter to raise and learn how to take care of them.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I love to be outside, hunting, reading, and just enjoying time with my 3 year old.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I have been with my husband 13 years and married 5 1/2. We have a 3 1/2 year old daughter. We have an 11 year old Lab mix named Callie. I am a Probation Officer.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I was introduced to BYC by my friend/co-worker. Just getting new chickens and not having raised them in over 20 years, I need advice.
