hi I'm new to this forum but not to chickens but have been away from raising them for about 8 years so I'm probably going to need some help. Just bought 8 Rhode Island Reds S/R so I don't know what I have yet.

What are some other good laying breeds? I have forgotten used to have some bared rocks and liked them. Was thinking about some orphians(sorry about the spelling). Only want about 8 to 10 hens total.

Wyndottes(sp?) and New Hampshire's are good laying breeds

I have a couple barred rocks, and I really like them, I also had a gold sex link before, and she layed the largest eggs of all, and she laid really well. I read that the sex-link breeds are one of the best layers, but they're others too. I think everyone has their favorites. Good luck, and have fun!
