I’ve been here off an on reading the forums to learn for the past year and a half with our initial flock of hens, but we got some new chicks to add to the flock this year and I was curious about their breeds so decided to officially join!
Thanks for being such a great place to get good info on raising chickens.
We have six hens in our original flock- 2 Colombian wyandottes, 2 Easter Eggers, a speckled sussex and a sapphire gem.
We purchased 20 chicks yesterday at our local rural king (and came home with a freebie!!
)- two of them died in the first two hours!
I think they may have gotten trampled in the little boxes on the way home, I don’t know- bc they all seemed happy and lively at the store
so we are down to 19 chicks. I forgot how stressful it can be in the first week or so….
maybe should not have jumped from 6 to 21 but you know… chicken math! we share eggs with my parents and my grandparents so 6 was not cutting it.
Anyway! Thanks our flock!
See ya around!
