I recently joined, as I have so many questions being a new chicken mom. I have 6 chicks that are 6 weeks old and 5 chicks that are 5 weeks old. I have two silkies that are about 8 months old. Once just went broody, so she sat of fake eggs. I just give her 3 babies to raise about a week ago. She is a wonderful mom. I then have 3 6 month old New Hampshire red hens.

Something I wish I knew before getting silkies, is how broody that are. My second silkie is now going broody. I am going to try to break her, as I just have two many babies right now. Wish me luck.

Those little stinkers. Broodies are so fun to watch but at the same time, not helpful when your eggs aren't fertilized or you simply don't want more chicks lol!😅 There are a lot of threads and articles on here on how to break a broody hen. 😊
