! Great to have another new member! You might also look at various hatcheries that seel baby chicks (not sure if you wanted to raise them from chicks or not). Murray McMurray as well as Meyer (among others) are reputable hatcheries . I know it seems overwhelming now - it will slowly all start to make sense. I like your approach of learning first. If you're thinking about breeds, red sex links are very good egg laying chickens and common backyard breed.

You can make your shed into a chicken coop. The main thing most people watch out for is predators, so you have to make sure it's secure at the windows, etc.

You'll need some layer food if you're getting hens and water, and if your she'd small maybe a run in the garden, but that's about it for the basics.
