hello! im new to byc and am excited to get to know all about chickens! I cant wait to meet new people too! we live in Indianapolis, in we just go

t our coop yesterday and I cant wait to get started. I still have no idea what breeds of chicks or where to get chicks yet so if you have any suggestions please let me know.

Dig trenches and burry the boards into it several inches. Cover the vents and the bottom openings with hardware cloth.

! Pleased you found us! Hardware cloth is fine tough wire mesh - square holes might be 1/4 or 1/2 inch. Keep critters from getting their sticky little fingers in and snatching you birds! In terms of breeds you might check out the handy dandy chart below! Good luck and have fun!

it is a very tightly squared wire--It is a great barrier to things as small as rats. It keeps raccoons and other predators from getting the chickens. They will kill them and pull the chicken out through regular poultry wire.
