New Here

When Embdens are young they often have a few grey feathers. Especially females. Time will tell but my guess is female Embden. As I say all the time, I am not an expert on geese, especially Embdens. An Embden that I had last year had a few grey feathers till it was processed at 20 weeks. I read somewhere, I think from Dave Holderread that females from white breeds such as Romans, Embdens, and Sebastopols, may carry a few grey feathers up till a year. After a year they should be all white. Hope that helps.

That's good to know! I bought her as a "weeder" goose from McMurray's so I literally have no idea what she is. I guess time will tell.

I wouldn't think they would sell Pilgrims as weeders. But my Embden gander isn't much of a weeder either, he mostly stands around with his head in the air.

I wouldn't think so either but I think it's their way of getting rid of the extra goslings they have on hand. Since she was hatched in March one of the first available dates they had for goslings maybe the product of a test batch if she is?

All I know is he is one beautiful gosling!

Do you think Lucy is a he?
I wish I had pic on my computer of my Embden when he was a baby but sadly my computer crashed and I lost all my older pics, but looking at Lucy when she was tiny makes me think girl she was much darker than my gander when he was her age. But that was close to 6 yrs ago, but still I am leaning towards girl. I went and looked at my post, nope didn't mean to say he.

I vent sexed her when she was younger and finally decided she was a female. I sexed Gus out as a male no doubts there. I'm really hoping they can be a pair.

They are attached at the hip it seems like. It'll be nice when Gus is old enough to go outside full time with Lucy and they can stay together.
