So I finally created a BYC account. I've been on here researching for my first group of chicks and we just picked them up yesterday. I have 2 Orpingtons, 2 Welsummers and 2 Gold laced Wyandottes - all pullets. I'm super excited!!

I have two young boys that are 4 & 2 and they are also super excited. We haven't owned any animals until now so my 4 year old keeps wanting to show them his Angry Birds show and his new Superman shoes, lol I have a feeling these little ladies will be spoiled ;-) I have to say though I'm ready for the weather to stay warm. We live in Chesapeake, VA and it was beautiful a couple days ago in the 70's and then yesterday it started hailing! Crazy weather! I read that we can let them run around outside with supervision around 2 weeks of age when the weather is nicer, is that right? I look forward to chatting about chickens with you!

Congrats on the new babies! Yes, I always get my 2 week olds out for field trips outside! It breaks up boredom and gets them toughened up. Stop by our learning center here on BYC for lots of tips and hints on raising your new brood...
