Hello all
My name is Colleen. I live in paso robles ca. Anyone else from paso out there? This is my first year that I am attempting to raise chickens for eggs and awesome pets for the family. I am also starting my first large veggie garden. I have been researching this for a long time and I really feel that I am ready to take on this adventure.
My only concerns are the noise, I hope that I can have hens who squawk without too much disturbances. Where I live, there still is a lot of country folk, not too much city mindset. So I am sure that people will be tolerant. I was wondering, should I tell my neighbors about the chickens? My neighbor to my right has two chickens. I told her already, and she seems fine with it (obviously)
Anywho, looking forward to BYC!

LOL first welcome to BYC if one neighbors has chickens you should be fine

Welcome to BYC, Colleen. Glad you decided join to our flock. As long as it's not illegal to have chickens where you live, I wouldn't say anything to the neighbor. There's no point drawing attention to a potential problem that may never become an issue otherwise. If your neighbor does say something about it, as nappybutbald says, you can always offer to share some of your eggs with them. That will usually pacify most neighbors.
