Just started a flock of barred rocks in a large diy coup. 8x4x4 with a run that is 16x8. Pullets are about 2.5 months old now. They share the run with three ducks. A khaki Campbell,a buff Orpington, and a precocious magpie named Oreo. I have farm hands to help me ranging in age from 2 to 10. The ducks range the back yard in the day, but the pullets stay in the run and take over the attached hutch I set up for the ducks for their afternoon naps.

My dad had chickens ducks and geese when I was a kid, and I guess I missed it (well maybe not the geese, they were mean critters).

This site has been a good resource to lurk, so I thought I might participate

Sounds like you have a lovely flock. I have three buff orpingtons. They are my favorite breed. I really like the name Oreo for your magpie!
