I just have to vent my excitement... My new horse gets on the shipper's trailer tomorrow to head to his new home! Despite the fact that I'm using a big, super reputable shipping company I am going to be on pins and needles until he gets here next week... I'm so thrilled... I tried to breed a mare I leased this year but it didn't work out for me. I figured it would be two years or so before I could buy a young horse but I let myself browse anyway and found this little guy!

Meet Aurie! This is a baby picture from his inspection last year but I'll post new pictures once he arrives. He's an Oldenburg colt who turns 18 months old next week. I bought him as a dressage prospect for myself since my FEI horse is going to be retiring in the next few years. Aurie might do a little in-hand showing this summer but otherwise he'll spend the next couple of years in his nice big field finishing growing before he starts his career!

Can't wait to see more pictures!

Thanks guys! He had a little trouble loading on the big scary shipping van but his owner said it wasn't too traumatic and he is now at the layover facility in Lexington, I'll post pics when he gets here :)

He's by the stallion Commonwealth (Contucci x Weinernacht/World Cup I) out of a Hanoverian mare by Prefix. Very much an all-American boy! Lots of FEI horses in his pedigree and they tend to be very nice but amateur friendly so I think he'll be a good prospect. I especially love Commonwealth's damline because my current FEI horse is sired by World Cup I. He is my baby and had THE BEST temperament ever. I've got high hopes for this little guy as well!

Baby Aurie is HERE!!! And I am so unbelievably thrilled with him! Being that I bought him sight unseen, I was trying to keep my expectations in check... After all, he is a gangly yearling. They tend to be a bit fugly at that age. But he walked off the trailer and he's just lovely!!! He is a bit gangly but I think I see a real stunner under there

He arrived in excellent condition, I can't say enough good things about American Horse Transport. Their customer service was wonderful with daily updates and the drivers were fantastic. He didn't really want to get off the van but they were so patient with him. Eventually he did make his way down the ramp without incident. He was a bit nervous but quite the gentleman nonetheless on the walk home (we had to hoof it the 1/2 mile from the main road as there was no place for the van to turn around back on my street).

Since this update is completely useless without pictures, here ya go! He's pretty sun bleached right now but it looks like he's going to be a beautiful dark bay, maybe even black!

Yea, he's home!!!!

Now you have to keep this online journal going. He looks better than I thought he would as a yearling. (More filled out) What is his birthday? Real one...

That's great that he did so well for you. Having a layover in Lexington, loading back on a big transport.Getting off a big transport and walking 1/2 a mile to his new home. Sounds like you have the makings of a great sensible partner to keep you busy.:)
