Hi everyone!! My name is Wendy and I live in Central VA. I really new to backyard chicken raising. I got 4 Easter Eggers on Monday and I have been having a blast with them!
I built my coop out of old pallets I got from the lumber yard I worked at for almost 12 years.
Almost a year ago, I lost my husband of almost 8 years, so building my coop and getting my girls has helped me and my 4 and 8 year children cope with our one year anniversary just around the corner.

Hopefully you can see my pics of my coop and my pretty girls.
During my research over the last several months, I spent a lot of time here at BYC and really excited to be a member!

Welcome!!! Your girls are pretty :) Sorry for your loss :( i will pray for you and your family. Feel free to ask any questions you have, and we are happy to answer them :)

Welcome to BYC, Wendy! You have a nice flock. I'm glad to see you used hardward cloth on your run instead of chicken wire as too many predators can either tear through chicken wire or pass through the openings in the mesh (even 1"). My granddaughter loves Easter Eggers for their colored eggs and for this reason, I keep some in my flock. Good luck with your flock.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Oh, I am so sorry for your loss.

That must have been quite tough on you and the children.

You have a beautiful flock! I hope they continue to bring you great joy.

Make yourself at home here on BYC and welcome to our flock!

Thank you everyone!!! My best friend says that when I watch my girls in their run, I am in my "zen place".

Good luck with your poultry raising adventures, and I hope you find everything you need to know. Don't forget to take a look at BYC's very useful learning center (If you haven't already)! The learning center as well as the forum should answer your questions! There is always something new to learn! Glad to have you here! See you around with the flock.
