Hi! This is my second go 'round raising chicks. This time we are starting with golden sexlinks. I just brought home 6 pullet chicks and set them up in my sewing room under a heat lamp. Let the fun begin!!!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Your chicks are adorable. Thanks for posting the pic. :o) Golden Sex Link is one of a number of labels under which some hatcheries market their Red Sex Links which are laying machines. You should get loads of eggs from those six girls. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your chicks.

Hi, welcome to BYC!

We have 3 Red Sex Links in our mixed flock and love them. They are so inquisitive, funny and smart. And then of course, there are the terrific eggs they lay, big darkish brown eggs (almost every day).

Hope you enjoy your birds as much as we have. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

And if you would like to "meet" other members from Idaho, you can find them here:

Thank you! I have a small 1.5 acre set up here. I had angora rabbits and sheep as well as chickens at one time but have downsized. INSIDE the house I am owned by 11 parrots ranging in size from lovebirds and a canary to a Blue and Gold Macaw and several sizes and breeds in between.
Last time I had chickens I had Plymouth Barred Rock and Black Sexlinks. The PBR were two yolkers regularly and the BSL were just regular layers. From everything I've read, the Golden Sexlinks are excellent layers too so I'm really excited to raise healthy happy pullets and get some fresh eggs when the time is right.

You're welcome. Both Red (Gold) and Black Sex Links are superb layers. I've raised raised both varieties for years (along with dozens of other breeds and hybrids), and the Black and Red Sex Links have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per hen per year. :o)

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Cute chicks! Sounds like you have a nice variety of animals. I love angora rabbits!

I've only kept guinea pigs but have always wanted to keep rabbits.

Enjoy your animals and welcome to our flock!
