Hello! My name is Becka and I recently bought my first chicks. I've got 3 Buff Orpingtons (1 a cockerel), 2 Barred Rocks, 1 Speckled Sussex and 1 Black Laced Silver Wyandotte. My son-in-law, the farm boy of the family, has built me a chicken coop that looks like Dr. Who's tardis! I'm hoping to raise enough layers to provide my family with eggs and also meat birds. (And hoping I'll be strong enough to process the meat birds.) I am very glad to find this group.

Hi Becka, it's nice to have you here! How nice to have a builder in the family.

Have you checked out the Learning Center yet? Lots of helpful and interesting articles there. Take a look at all the different forums too, lots of places to share your experiences, pictures, questions, etc.

Thanks for joining us!

Hi Becka and welcome to our community.

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre, as NFC has mentioned.

How cool is that? I have seen photos of Hobbit style coops AND Tardis coops. Love something different like that. Creative people have no limits. Would love to see a photo.

If you would like to join your state thread just put Illinois in the search box and it will pop up.
