New in Mid-Tennessee

Yeah, I think I've read where a couple people had Rhodebars laying green eggs. Greenfire is where mine came from, too - so really hope they don't lay green eggs :fl They're sweet chicks no matter, and so much bigger than the Breda. I have a 3 week old Serama in the brooder next to them, and the size difference between it and the Rhodebars is mind-boggling

I guess I'm kind of a dork. I'm such a novice at all of this. I was just shocked at how quickly my sulmtalers are growing. Only two survived my maiden hatch and one of them is already scraping its head on the top of the brooder. I also had no idea that they would be able to fly already. Looks like I'm going to need to make a new brooder/pen that can still hold the heat, but with more headroom. I like DMRippy 's, they are plenty large enough. what is the main purpose of your flock? Hobby, Eggs, Meat or Show?

Well with that many they are NOT a hobby, but not money makers YET. Originally they were for eggs, then I found out how many pretty chickens there were and egg colors..... and it was all over. Some I have because I LOVE them... some are just a test to see if I like them and if they will sell. My birds have to pay their way. This year they have, next year I want some PAY

I like the challenge of breeding each type of bird, love the egg colors and they are FUN, FUNNY and some are LOUD

I don't think I will ever show. I am afraid of them getting sick. I have too much time and money to lose birds to something I have no control over. Showing is just not my thing.

BTW those brooders you saw are boxes that riding mowers come in. You might could find someone that has them for free. I paid $3 each for the box with a top.

He wants $5 for them now. There is someone on CL here that has PLASTIC ones for $15... they would be easy to clean too.
