Greeting to all from NW Missouri (near Lawson). After 25 years of living in the city, we bought 20 acres with a log home and log dog house that at one time had heat, air, plumbing and 6 dog doors. Both had been vacant for over 10 years, so over time vandals had taken the heating and a/c unit, but the building was restorable. We built a wall to allow 8x8 for our 10 chickens, and will use the remaining 14x8 section for for gardening tools.

We have two buff Orpingtons, two EE, two RIR, two Ameraucanus, one Barred Plymouth Rock and one Black Maran.

We both teach at a Bible college and seminary, so the chickens are the first of what will become a homestead farm of the next next few years as we prepare for retirement.

Welcome to BYC! Glad to have you on our roost. Sounds like you'll have a sweet retirement. I retired last Autumn and it is great. I have my chickens and my vegetable garden. Life is good. This is a great place to learn and share. Good luck getting your farm put together. Oh, and we love photos.
