New in NY

Hello to anyone reading this! I have been reading for a while now, and am - finally - eagerly awaiting the arrival of our first chicks next week. Yippie! My husband has been wanting to get chickens for years now, and I was on board but not really ready. We're finally in what is hopefully our forever home, and coop/run building is in progress. We'll be getting 5 chicks (an Ameraucana, a BPR, a Golden Laced Wyandotte, a Welsumer, and a RIR). Our only other pets are a geriatric dog and cat; we haven't had new or young animals around (except the arrival of human children, I suppose... ) in a long time, so I am very excited! Here's to the next great adventure. Thanks in advance for your knowledge and support.
