We will be getting our first chickens tomorrow and I am so excited! My Mom has had chickens her whole life and now that we have moved we have room to have some also. I am really excited and a little apprehensive since I have never done this before. Luckily I know Mom is always only a phone call away :)

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. Congratulations on getting your first chickens! I'm sure you will love them as much as I love mine. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Welcome to BYC, so glad you joined the flock.

I hope mom is also a member. A person with her experience and knowledge would be great as a New Member greeter, or answer the "emergency, posts", or "incubation and hatching threads.

Welcome to BYC!!!!
What did you get? It sounds like you went for mature birds since you have gotten a few eggs - just be prepared to see the eggs stop for a bit as the birds' systems react to the stress of being moved - it's not uncommon to get 1-2 eggs from a bird at first since those eggs, specifically that first one, are already "in the works" when you get the bird - but their production systems often shut down after that for a period as they adjust to the new home.

We did get 3 that were already laying and another 2 that will lay in a month or 2. We also have chicks in the incubator! We got 2 Black Sex Links, an Americauna, and 2 Production Reds (Those are the younger ones). We got 2 eggs the first day they were here, 3 yesterday, and 2 again today. If they do stop laying due to the move does it usually last long?
