(1) We have had chickens in the past but just got some more after having to get rid of ours due to moving.

(2) We have 6 chickens and 1 duck.

(3) We have a Polish named Polly, a lavender Orpington named Violet and a red Orpington named Red. Then there are the 3 little flighty, fast chicks that my daughter got for her birthday, that I'm not sure of the breed, named Pepper, Salty & Popsico. Lastly, there is King Quackers the Pekin duck. We want more chickens and I really enjoy having a mixed flock. They each have their own personality and are great birds!

(4) I found BYC from a Google search some time ago. I found the page to be full of awesome info and fun stuff.

(5) I am a runner, I ride horses, I love gardening and being outside as much as possible. I hike, enjoy reading and going on adventures with my kids. We are never bored and always having fun.

(6) I am the mother to 2 awesome kids, Oliver and Ayla, that keep me entertained and busy most of the time. I'm married to Brian and enjoy pestering him and keeping him on his toes. He's a mechanic and I'm a certified pharmacy tech. After having kids we decided I could stay home and be a full time mom. It's way harder than any job I ever had. We have the birds, a dog named Rosie, a cat named JoeJoe, a horse named Moe, some pond snails in my sons fish tank and my daughters Beta named Beta Bob.
Since being a stay at home mom I took up making tutus to help with the income. I like making them and I even have some for myself. I got bored with the tutus a bit and decided that I'd take up barbed wire crafts. So now I make garden trellises, wreaths and other garden art out of reclaimed barbed wire. It is way better than having a real job. I sell some of it locally at a market we have in Chattanooga.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You have a very good and thorough introduction. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My children and granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loved our chickens and made lap pets of the calmer and more gentle breeds. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Glad you joined the BYC flock

Hi, welcome to BYC!

I enjoyed reading your intro, so much more interesting than just "Hi, I have chickens". You sound way busier than most people I know with a 'real' job, lol. (I'd say all you do is pretty 'real'!) Glad you were able to get back into poultry, birds are a lot of fun.

It's fun to touch base with members close by so if you would like to connect with other members in TN, you can find some of them here:

so glad you decided to join us and congrats on getting a new flock.

Great intro, thanks for sharing.

IMO it is far easier to work than to be an at home mom. Have fun, enjoy everything and take time for yourself.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! We've encountered our first issue with our polish hen Polly. She has vent prolapse.I used honey first and then got some preparation H and let the swelling go down. I pushed the issue back in and held it for a bit. I've done this twice now and it keeps coming back out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
